My friends hair was looking a little rough so me and my friend had to get him together! I love this mans texture, really all he needs is water and some oil to get his curls popping.

Waist Beads!

I finally got my new waist beads. My friends sister makes them. They take time to make, but she just does it as a hobby! I brought 3 for 25, one is 10 so I figured I might as well get 3! I like these ones because the last one I had was made from cotton string, these are elastic so they stretch, which is a plus I can take them on and off!

Black History Tea!

Recently I attended a black history tea party! It was my first time going to one, we played games, sang songs, shopped, socialized, ate good food and of course drank tea! I was among black women young and old, we all came together to enjoy each others company, but also to celebrate our history. I will be going again next year!

Marley Twist!

I had to do them again! I haven't had my Marley twist since June of last year, it was time!! I used 6 packs of hair to get them nice and thick. Two of my packs were actually color. I'm not sure how long I'll be keeping them in, but they are defiantly coming in handy as my protective style and i can do so much with them! It feels nice to give my hair a break and still keep it in a natural style choice.

Thrift finds!

I found a couple of nice things at the thrift store. Thrift finds always make me excited because usually there's nothing else out here like it, so I been doing it since I was in my pre teens I'm 21 now! You never know what you'll find at a local thrift store or yard sale down the street thats the real beauty in it! I would have to say jewelry is my favorite part of thrifting process. I fall in love with modern vintage pieces the most, things with unique shapes, colors and patterns always catch my eye. Here's what I snagged up for only 8.00 : )

Don't really care for the shoulder pads so I'll be taking those out.
The Polkadot earrings are actually clipons! I'll wear those too.

Lipstick!

I'm starting to really go crazy for some lipstick! I can have on some simple, plain makeup and just add a lipstick and instantly add some pizazz to my face! Right now I've been finding the cheapest lipsticks that works well with my skin tone, that's fine with me!

Face Exfoliation

I usually do a lemon, and honey mix to apply to my face to add extra moisture and to minimize dark spots that I may have. This time I decided to add in some sugar to make it more of a face scrub. I also applied it to my lips. I defiantly liked how the sugar made my face feel and after about 5 mins. I rinsed everything off. I want to do better with incorporating this exfoliate in, seeing as I only do it 3 days out of the whole month.

What you need:
  • Honey
  • 1 Lemon
  • Sugar
  • Cotton balls
  • Knife
  • Little container

I did my very first natural hair video!! Im still getting use to the whole process, but for my first video...not bad. I usually do twist and curl all the time with about 15 twist in total. Then I separate and fluff with my fingers at the roots or use a wide tooth comb.

Skin and Acne Medication

I find myself obsessing over my skin often. I've never dealt with really bad acne, but around that time of the month I usually have a slight breakout on my cheeks, chin, and forehead the most. Though I do not have, "bad" acne I do feel a little self conscious just to even think that its there and people may be staring. So for the past 2 months I started using an acne medication by the name of Acanya and Atralin suggested to me by a dermatologist. She gave me the free samples just for me to try them out and see if they were working then I could actually get the prescription. Acanya I use in the morning, I wash my face first with African Black Soap then lightly apply it to my problem areas then apply my moisturizer. Atralin is used every other night which I would apply it the same way. I must be honest the first 2 weeks were like boot camp! My skin really started going through some things I experienced dryness, pealing, and burning sensations. Once this was happening I contacted the dermatologist and she assured that it will get better, my skin was just adapting to an actual medication so I decided to stick it out.

Progress so far

I'll take more pictures next month just so I can really see a difference. Along with the acne medication and washing my face with African black Soap twice a month I apply lemon juice and honey to my skin and let in sit for about 5 mins. The lemons help to lighten dark spots and discoloration while the honey moisturizes my skin leaving it feeling soft.
